Introduction

tia Scan is a high-performance scan x32/x64-bit application bound to the Microsoft® Windows™-platform which can be directly controlled from the SAP GUI.
tia Scan supports all SAP storage scenarios (e.g.: "late archiving", "early archiving", etc.) and requires just a minimal customizing effort.
tia Scan also supports centralized profile and license management in case tia Scan is being connected to the tia Scan Server.

KGS Scan client also seamlessly integrates with KGS ZADOC.

Installation

Download from kgs Software download page in the members area https://download.kgs-software.com/

 

  1. Open the downloaded zip file in Windows File Explorer. You will find following content:

 

  1. Choose the method of installation depending on your requirements:

 

The KGSScan.exe file will install tia Scan including the required third party components, which are:

  • .NET 4.8 Build 528040 (Windows 10-Update von Mai 2019 und Windows 10-Update von November 2019)

  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x86) - 14.36.32532

(This is for tia Scan 2.24.1. Later releases may install future versions of these components).

 

The KGSScan.msi file can be opened by Windows Installer application to install the tia Scan while not the third party components named above.

 

  1. Follow the steps in the installation dialog

 

The default directory for tia Scan is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Kgs\KGS Scan
However, you may change this in the installation dialog.

 

After successfull installation, you will find the application "KGS Scan" in Windows start menu. 

 

tia Scan is also using following locations to store configuration data:

  • %ProgramData%/KGS Scan

  • %AppData%/KGS Scan

 

Also the service "KGS Scan Transfer" is setup for handling communication between tia Scan and applications that it integrates with.

Note:

When using tia Scan without integration with tia Scan Server and Windows is configured with following security policy: "User Account Control: Virtualize file and registry write failures to per-user locations" security policy", then please read tia® Scan does not display profiles even with administrative rights
