tia® Scan does not display profiles even with administrative rights

 Problem

Scan profiles for users can be stored as configuration file - KGS Scan Application.cfg - in C:\ProgramData\KGS Scan and are then normally available for every user, even if he has no permissions to change them.

However, it can happen that this is no longer the case after updates, especially after operating system updates, and you only see the "Default Profile".

This does not apply when you are connected with the Scan Server

 Solution

  1. Check if there is a configuration file in C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ProgramData\KGS Scan and what is the timestamp of this file. If the timestamp is current, then this configuration file is certainly used.

  2. Open your Control Panel and refer to Administrative Tools

  3. Swich to Security Options → User Account Control: Virtualize file and registry write failures to per user locations

  4. Tab Local Security Setting → Disable → Apply → OK
