How does SharePoint archiving with tia® Connect work?

Archiving a document or folder is the process of sending a copy into the archive.

The document is no longer stored in SharePoint but remains accessible. The document is set read-only and cannot be modified or deleted anymore. Also undoing the process of archiving is not possible.

Each document has a archiving status. Following table lists and describes the available status values:

Error while archiving

Something went wrong your document is not archived. Inform an administrator and try again.

Depending on the SharePoint installation there is a limit of the filessize for archiving. It is between 30 -100 MB per File.

 

There are two modes for archiving sharepoint web site:

Automatic archiving

If automatic archiving is activated for the SharePoint web site by site administrator, manual archiving is not necessary.

Automatic archiving is continuously collecting files to be archived and sending them to the archive on regular basis. The archive status definitions are the same as for manual archiving.

The automatic archiving is limited to 100 items per site and execution.
