Open an archived file from within SharePoint

Documents that are archived already are no longer stored in SharePoint but in a secure archive system.

Still the document can be accessed in SharePoint from the archive via a link listed in the folder.

Just click the link and the requested document is opened.

 

When in SharePoint folder, following indicators tell, if the document is archived:

  • the archiving status is archived, if visible in this view

  • the icon in front of the file name. Instead of the application assigned to open this file, e.g. Adobe Acrobat Reader for .pdf-files, the S-icon indicates a SharePoint link to archived file.
