Procedural instruction for updating KGS Scan Version 1.x.x to 2.x.x when KGS ScanServer is being used
Due to side effects, which appeared due to our continous efforts to extent our product KGS Scan, an incompatibility in the scan profiles was noted which could appear when updating KGS Scan to Version 2.x.x.
This needs to be fixed manually; an automatic correction when using KGS ScanServer isn't possible.
Please follow the instructions in order to correct unexpected changes to your scan profiles:
Make a backup of your KGS ScanServer database as well as the profile directory. You'll find the profile directory within the defined working directory (default: <webapps>\<servlet>\work\scanserver\profiles ).
If the configuration of the existing profiles is unknown, please document them (e.g.: through screenshots and / or notes). You'll find the affected options in 5).
Uninstall KGS Scan Version 1.x.x.
Install KGS Scan Version 2.x.x und start the program.
The profiles will be loaded from ScanServer. Please check whether the following options have been changed:
Document Separation → Separation criteria
Indexing → Type
Export → Export Type
Save changes (if required).
The manual fix of the scan profiles has to be ensued simultaneously while updating your KGS Scan installations (from version 1.x.x to 2.x.x) on the associated workstations. It is not possible to run a mixture of old versions and new versions within the same profile group.
If it isn't possible to simultaneously update all scan client installations and fixing the profile, we recommend to install another ScanServer instance or update for every profile groupe.
