KGS Scan is being shipped with a profile manager, which allows you to configure a scanner and change settings related to that scanner.

Please note:

  • In order to create or edit profiles (local) administrator privileges are required.

  • In case KGS ScanServer is being used as a profile server, profile administrator privileges are being required.

When a scan request is being transferred by SAP it uses the content repository as well as the document class provided with this request. In case a profile which follows this naming convention <content repository>_<document class> (e.g.: FI_FAX) is being found, it will automatically use this profile for the scanning process.

By following this naming convention you may define specific parameters for different scenarios (e.g.: simplex or duplex scanning, B/W, Grascale or Color, etc.). In case no matching profile following this naming convention is being found KGS Scan will use the standard profile.

To open the profile manager please click on the Edit-menu and click on the Profiles …-button to open the Edit Profiles-menu.

Highlighted “Edit”-Menu with highlighted “Profiles …”-button.

A new window will open, which displays you every profile that exists on that local workstation. By clicking the New …-button you may open the dialogue which allows you to define a new scanning profile.

“Edit Profiles”-dialogue with opened “Create new Profile”-window.

You may choose any name to your liking or as already mentioned above you may use convention following fixed name for SAP scenarios.

After pressing the OK-button the Edit Profiles-menu as well as the Create new Profile-window will be closed and you’ll see the options menu, which allows you to define all the settings for this newly created profile.
