In order to enable the checking of found and used separation barcode the following steps are necessary.

First, open the KGS ScanClient and click on Edit and then on the Profiles …-button.

The Edit Profiles-dialogue will be opened, which allows you to either edit an existing profile or creating a new profile. After the Options-window opens please click on the Document Separation-menu and choose within the separator list the entry Barcode. Here you may select from the list of all available barcodes the following (which are supported for checksum calculation starting at version 2.9.1.0).

Please note: You may either check one or a combination of the three mentioned barcodes.

Enabling one of the not allowed barcodes will disable the checksum calculation!

After enabling one or many of the allowed barcodes, you may switch to the Indexing-menu, by clicking on it in the menu pane on the left-hand side.

Here you may either add a new Index field by clicking on the Add …-button or edit an existing one by choosing it from the list and clicking on the Edit-button.

This will open the Edit Indexfield-window. Please choose within the Type-list the type Separation Barcode.

Here you’ll see the option Validate Barcode within the Field Configuration. In order to enable the checksum calculation and therefore barcode validation, please check the option Validate Barcode.

Please note: In case you chose another barcode than the previously named ones (Interleaved 2 of 5, EAN 8, EAN 13), this option will be disabled and you can not select it.

In that case, please check the enabled barcodes within the Document Separation menu.

After confirming the index field options by clicking on the OK-button, the Edit Indexfield-window will be closed. You may save the changes done to the index field definition by clicking on the Save button and close the Options-menu by clicking on the OK-button.

Please click on Start in order to choose the scan profile and begin the scanning process.

After the documents have been scanned KGS ScanClient will display on the right-hand-side the defined index field as well as the value of the barcode which matched the defined criteria.

When clicking on the barcode a message appears on the right-hand area at the bottom of the separator list, which either tells you that the scanned barcode is valid or that it’s an invalid barcode.

Please note: After enabling the barcode validation, it’s not possible to export documents that contain invalid barcodes!
